The engine room is located beneath the pilot house floor and can be accessed through two lifting floor panels. It offers enough space to stand upright, sit next to the engine, or even crouch underneath it. The area is well-lit and provides easy, comfortable access to all components, which are new, clean, dry, and efficiently organized for maintenance.

The primary equipment in the engine room includes the engine, generator, watermaker, calorifier, greywater tank, and their associated auxiliary systems.

Under-deck valves are installed to safeguard against fuel theft and prevent water from entering the tanks. There are two 600L tanks, each baffled and equipped with Weka inspection hatches that allow for straightforward inspection of their interiors, which are currently in excellent condition. Each tank features a moisture-collecting sump and test points for draining any future moisture or contamination, as well as sampling the fuel.

The tanks can operate independently—one for the engine and the other for the generator and central/water heating—or they can be utilized together.

The engine receives fuel through twin banks of water separators, filters, and electric pumps that can be rapidly switched if a filter becomes clogged or a pump fails. The glass bowls on the water separators provide a clear visual indication of any issues. Additionally, a suction gauge shows the condition of the filter while in operation. A new gearbox was installed in 2013.

Broker's Comments

Introducing the well-crafted Samson C-Lord, a remarkable ferro-cement yacht built to high standards by a marine engineer utilising the renowned Hartley/Sampson design. This durable construction method employs the Hartley Truss Frame technique, featuring layers of mesh combined with a specialist mortar made of sulphate-resistant cement, sand, and pozzolan. This results in a lightweight yet robust hull that can absorb impacts and maintain flexibility.

The exterior is finished with Jotamastic 87 epoxy, zinc-based primers, and antifouling, ensuring exceptional longevity, while significant above-water sections were professionally repainted in 2019. Inside, the hull benefits from 13mm nitrile foam insulation, effectively preventing condensation.

The deck design is anchored in functionality, featuring teak planks glued rather than screwed to maintain integrity and provide an aesthetically pleasing appearance.

With wide side decks for ease of movement and a large cockpit capable of seating six comfortably, this yacht is perfect for socialising or relaxing. The flexible sprayhood and Bimini can be extended with additional canvas to create a fully enclosed space, effectively transforming the area into an additional cabin during anchorage.

The vessel boasts a proven track record, including a circumnavigation, underscoring its reliability for long-distance voyages.

Ferro-cement, while less common, offers a durable and low-maintenance option for serious offshore cruising. For those interested in learning more about this construction method, resources like Ferroboats and Colin Brooks' book on Ferro-cement Boats provide valuable insights.

Stepping inside, you will be greeted by a well-crafted, functional interior designed with both comfort and practicality in mind—ideal for extended cruising or full-time living aboard. The companionway opens into a striking space featuring warm teak and sapele wood finishes throughout.

At the foot of the companionway lies a raised pilot house, serving as a practical central hub. To port, you will find a seating area that doubles as a crew pilot berth, complete with lee cloths for added security at sea. Access to a utility area is also available here, housing a washing machine—an excellent feature for long-term sailors. On the starboard side, the navigation station is equipped with essential navigation instruments and switch panels, with easy access to the bosun’s locker and a small workshop, highlighting the vessel’s self-sufficiency. Engine room access is conveniently provided via hatches in the pilot house floor.

Moving aft, the master cabin is spacious and luxuriously appointed, offering a centrally positioned double bed for comfort and ample storage for practical long-term living.

A beautifully crafted L-shaped desk of varnished sapele, complemented by inlaid gold-embossed leatherette, offers a stylish workspace, while an upholstered swivel chair enhances comfort.

A large heads compartment located forward of the master cabin is fitted with modern conveniences, including an electric toilet with a macerator and full washing and shower facilities.

The saloon is bright and inviting, featuring a large oval teak table that comfortably seats six. Teak parquet flooring runs throughout the pilot house and saloon, with removable panels providing additional storage.

The enclosed galley is a chef's delight, equipped with secure storage and modern appliances, including a full-size stainless-steel sink, a Plastimo Neptune 5000 three-burner gas stove with an oven and grill, an AAA-rated domestic fridge, a breadmaker, and a combination microwave. These amenities are supported by a 240V system, catering to all culinary adventures. A freezer is conveniently placed under the seating in the pilot house, ensuring ample cold storage for long journeys.

Forward of the saloon, two identical cabins featuring upper and lower bunks, equipped with high-density foam mattresses and lee cloths, are ideal for guests or crew. A shared heads compartment with a manual toilet and shower provides privacy, with each cabin having its own access door. Generous storage solutions are thoughtfully designed throughout to maximise space efficiency.

At the very front of the vessel, a watertight bulkhead leads to the anchor locker, offering plenty of room for anchor chain, warp, and other essential equipment.

This yacht is equipped with two black water holding tanks (one for each head) and a grey water tank located in the engine room, ensuring effective waste management during voyages.

Energy-efficient LED lighting is used throughout, with numerous 240V and 12V sockets, including USB charging ports, enhancing functionality and comfort.

This expertly designed vessel blends traditional artisanal with modern conveniences, making it an excellent choice for long-term cruising or liveaboard life. The combination of quality materials, thoughtful design, and practical amenities crafts an environment of self-sufficiency and comfort at sea.
